The Shrikhand Mahadev trek is without a doubt one of the most fascinating and difficult treks for adventure seekers all over the world. The trek\u2019s highest point is located in the Indian Himalayan range at an elevation of 17,150 feet and includes some of the most magnificent natural overlooks along the way.<\/p>

The Shrikhand Mahadev Trek is the major draw of the arduous and rewarding hike. The majestic magnificence of a Shiv-Ling that is 75 feet tall and 46 feet thick may be seen here. According to tradition and legend, there was a monster named Bhasmasur. Through severe penance, he preached and delighted Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva reacted by bestowing upon him the power known as Bhasma Kangan. Bhasmasur can now transform anything he touches into ashes.<\/p>

Bhasmasur, engulfed by his ego and vanity, considered reducing Lord Shiva to ash. Lord Shiva retreated into the cave and reappeared on the mountain top, thanks to Lord Vishnu\u2019s assistance. Vishnu disguised himself as a female enchanter, Mohini, and fooled Bhasmasur into touching his own head and burning himself with his own hands.<\/p>

Shrikhand Mahadev is the name given to the mountain top where Lord Shiva stood.<\/p>

The greatest time to hike to Shrikhand Mahadev Peak is during the full moon days of July and August when the weather is ideal for enjoying the scenic journey. September is also a good time, more scenic and few people on hike. Official yatra schedule is in July and it\u2019s rainy season.<\/p>

Shrikhand Mahadev trek starts from Jaon village, which is the base village with some basic amenities. Shrikhand Mahadev Trek distance is 35 km one side and it takes 5 to 7 days to complete this arduous himalayan trek.<\/p>

WHERE IS SHIKHAND MAHADEV LOCATED?<\/h3>

Shrikhand Mahadev located near to Rampur in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Route is Chandigarh \u2013 Shimla \u2013 Rampur \u2013 Nirmand \u2013 Bagipul \u2013 Jaon. Jaon is the base village of Shrikhand Mahadev trek.<\/p>

From Shrikhand Mahadev top on a clear day, you can see Kinner Kailash range, Garhwal Himalayas and many great himlayan peaks.<\/p>

HOW CAN I GO TO SHRIKHAND MAHADEV<\/h3>

Jaon is a typical himalayan village. To reach Jaon is little tiring journey as it is located in remote area.\u00a0Chandigarh is well connected in terms of Flight, Train to all the major cities of India<\/em>. From Chandigarh, book a taxi and it will take 10-12 hours to reach Jaon. Road is well maintained upto Rampur.<\/p>

By Air:<\/strong>
Shimla\u2019s Jubbarhatti Airport is the closest one to Jaon. Road transportation is accessible from there up to the Jaon village of Nirmand, where the trip begins.<\/p>

By Train:<\/strong>
Shimla is once again the closest railway station to Jaon. The voyage begins in Jaon Village, which is 170 kilometers from Shimla and, as previously said, is accessible by road. Chandigarh railway station is more accessible as compare to Shimla. Shimla train is narrow gauge rail line so one has to shift train from Kalka and board the Shimla train, which takes almost full day to reach Shimla.<\/p>

A well-established bus network connects Shimla to the Jaon hamlet, where the yatra begins. It takes seven-eight hours to travel by road. Aside from the bus, cabs are accessible from Shimla to Rampur (130 km) and then to Jaon village through Nirmand (Kullu), however, the last 8 km from Bagipul to Jaon is a single and narrow road.<\/p>

Recommendations:<\/strong>\u00a0Take a flight to Chandigarh and rest for a night and next day drive to Jaon.<\/em><\/p>

ATM & MOBILE CONNECTIVITY<\/h3>

Last ATMs are available till Nirmand, But it will be better to withdraw from Chandigarh\/Shimla or Narkanda. Because you\u2019re on a journey that is taking you far from civilization. It is preferable to bring enough cash to cover the full travel as well as the payment.<\/p>

The network works up to Jaon village, which is also the base village & starting point of Shrikhand Mahadev Trek. Only Jio, Airtel & BSNL works at Jaon. During the trek, you\u2019ll find Jio & BSNL network till at Kali Top (day 2), Kunsha (day 2) & also some time on the top of the summit but it will totally depend on weather conditions.<\/p>

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE SHRIKHAND MAHADEV TREK<\/h3>

Trekking is very difficult if you have not prepared yourself for hard-core physical activity or a high level of fitness. Let\u2019s face it, it requires a lot of hard work. Sweat is the price of a fantastic trekking. If you want enjoy the trek & great views so prepare well.<\/p>

Blisters and missing toenails are badges of honor, as are sore calves and aching quads. In exchange, you get some of the world\u2019s most unspoiled, pure, and jaw-dropping scenery.<\/p>

The more you prepare for such a big hike, the less difficult it will be. Here are some tips to prepare yourself:
1. Start Walking \/ Jogging ( Daily for 10kms).
2. Start leg-based cardio exercise.
3. Make sure you include stair climbing in your daily routine.
4. Eat healthy food, remain hydrated, and get adequate rest for the greatest results.
5. Breathing Exercise
6. Do a high altitude trek before Shrikhand Mahadev upto 4500 meters is highly recommended.
7. Some of the activities you can do for an intense level of cardio are pull-ups, push-ups, sprints, mountain climbers, burpees, jumping jacks, breathing exercises, yoga & meditation and planks (3-5 sets each).<\/p>

Day 1: Chandigarh to Jaon (Drive 300km, 10-12hrs)
Day 2: Jaon to Thachdu (Trek \u2013 12 km)
Day 3: Thachdu to Bheemdwar via Kali Ghati (Trek -10 km)
Day 4: Bheemdwar to Shrikhand Mahadev and return
Day 5: Bheemdwar to Thachdu via Kali Ghati (Trek 10km)
Day 6: Thachdu to Jaon (Trek \u2013 12km)
Day 7: Jaon to Chandigarh (Drive 10-12 hours)<\/p>

We advise you to have an extra day as buffer to deal with bad weather or road block.<\/em><\/p>
