The trek’s highest point is located in the Indian Himalayan range at an elevation of 17,150 feet and includes some of the most magnificent natural overlooks along the way.

The Shrikhand Mahadev Trek is the major draw of the arduous and rewarding hike. The majestic magnificence of a Shiv-Ling that is 75 feet tall and 46 feet thick may be seen here. This huge Shiv-Ling shows Lord Shiva’s visage, complete with eyes, nose, and matted hair. It’s a fantastic sight to see as you near the end of your journey.

MYTHOLOGY ABOUT SHRIKHAND MAHADEV

According to tradition and legend, there was a monster named Bhasmasur. Through severe penance, he preached and delighted Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva reacted by bestowing upon him the power known as Bhasma Kangan. Bhasmasur can now transform anything he touches into ashes.

Bhasmasur, engulfed by his ego and vanity, considered reducing Lord Shiva to ash. Lord Shiva retreated into the cave and reappeared on the mountain top, thanks to Lord Vishnu’s assistance. Vishnu disguised himself as a female enchanter, Mohini, and fooled Bhasmasur into touching his own head and burning himself with his own hands.

Shrikhand Mahadev is the name given to the mountain top where Lord Shiva stood.

CHECK OUT THE Shrikhand Mahadev Trek Cost

SOME FACTS ABOUT SHRIKHAND MAHADEV

Altitude: 5227m | 17,150 ft above sea level
Location: Rampur, Himachal Pradesh
Total Distance: 32-35 km on one side which is 70 km in total
Difficulty level: Difficult & Challenging
Base Camp: Jaon Village
Destination: Shrikhand Mahadev Peak i.e. the Shivling

BEST TIME TO VISIT SHRIKHAND MAHADEV

The greatest time to hike to Shrikhand Mahadev Peak is during the full moon days of July and August when the weather is ideal for enjoying the scenic journey.
